The Pitt Season 3 is expected to continue its realistic approach to depicting the lives of the heroes working in Pittsburgh’s emergency department.

As the second season was set over Fourth of July weekend in 2026, roughly 10 months after the events of the first season, Noah Wyle revealed the timeline for the third installment.

“We’re about to start production on Season 3,” Wyle said during an appearance at Warner Bros. Upfronts. “It’s set in early November, just before the holidays, ushering in a whole new set of emergencies and confrontations and complications.”

While Wyle did not reveal the specific November holiday he was referring to, it could be either Veterans Day on November 11 or Thanksgiving on November 26.

However, veterans have already played an important role in the show through characters such as Shawn Hatosy’s Dr. Jack Abbot, Sepideh Moafi’s Dr. Baran Al-Hashimi, and Dr. Robby’s friend Duke Ekins, played by Jeff Kober.

While many assume the season could take place around Thanksgiving, Veterans Day also appears to be a strong possibility.

The Pitt Season 3 will continue to capture a 15-hour extended shift in the ER. As the new season will take place in November, it is also set to incorporate colder weather into its storylines.

The season will also continue Dr. Robby’s storyline after he went on sabbatical following his mental health crisis at the end of Season 2.

“He certainly had some stumbles. Robby has a long way to go to heal himself, and he hasn’t really even started the sabbatical, which is a double-edged sword. It could be very good for him to go away, but I think he is a little suicidal, and that’s got a lot of people concerned,” executive producer R. Scott Gemmill told Deadline. “But he’s also a grown man, and there’s only so much we can do. So, the big question at the end is: Is he going to go, and if he does, is he going to come back?”

However, this could also imply that Robby may become more problematic when The Pitt Season 3 begins due to the negative effects his mental health struggles may have on workplace morale–though this could also become a major part of his character growth.

“I think that’s part of his problem, and that’s part of what his journey is going to have to be if he wants to be the best doctor he can be, because it is affecting his work,” Gemmill continued. “Like the way he treats Langdon. He gets Langdon to the right place and convinces him that he’s a good doctor and still has his skills, but he does it in a way that’s somewhat unacceptable.”

The Pitt Season 3 is set to be released in January 2027.
