Marvel's What If..? Episode 5 has taken us to geek overload as zombies took over Earth in this run of the canon series. It was a classic story of hope, literally and figuratively, and Spider-Man was the heart of it all. However, in the end, what other doom awaits the universe and why did Uatu think it would already be the end of it?
What Other Doom Awaits the Universe in Marvel's What If..? Episode 5
In Marvel's What If..? Episode 5, What If.. Zombies?!, when Hulk was sent to Earth by Heimdall to warn Earth about the arrival of Thanos, the world already went mad as it has been run over by zombies that even the Avengers succumbed to the virus transforming them into flesh-eating monsters and that made the world a ghost town.
Only a few survived, thanks to their skills, and Hulk had a reunion with them. They were suspended in mid-air, Spider-Man did that. What a genius! And they intercepted a message from New Jersey that a cure has been found. They had to take the train and, in the station, they were attacked by Hawkeye and Falcon, costing them Happy.
In their journey, they came across Captain America who Bucky killed. However, Sharon was killed in the process and when Hope had to take her down, she was exposed. Almost reaching the base, they ran out of gas, and Hope sacrificed herself so they could cross a horde of zombies. There, Vision was holding the monsters at bay through a sub-frequency that the mind stone emits.

Vision theorized that the process could be reversed by targeted exposure, however, they would need a satellite for it to reach every corner of the Earth and turn the zombies back to people. However, they found out that Vision was luring survivors to feed Wanda. T'Challa was there and warned them. To get out, Vision had a change of heart and tore off the mind stone off of his forehead.
As they battle Wanda, only Peter, Scott, and T'Challa remained. Okoye, Kurt, Bucky, and Hulk were left behind. Hulk had to hold off Wanda. On their way to Wakanda, it was shown that Thanos was there, a zombified version of him, wearing the gauntlet with five infinity stones, waiting for the mind stone to complete all six. Since he is already a zombie, what he would do for the snap remains unknown.
The question lies whether he would still have the same objective of eradicating half the universe but as Uatu sees it, their trying to save the world may also be the reason for its end as they would serve Thanos the stone right away. Still, the rest remains unknown.
