Jonathan Joss, the beloved voice actor best known as John Redcorn from "King of the Hill," was reportedly shot and killed by his neighbor in San Antonio, Texas, on Sunday night, according to police. The incident, which is now a murder investigation, stemmed from an argument between Joss and his alleged assailant.

Here's what we know about Joss' shooter and what led to the tragic incident.

Who Shot Jonathan Joss and What Happened to Him?

That Sunday night, 59-year-old Jonathan Joss, who was best known for his roles as the Native American masseur and New Age healer John Redcorn in the animated series King of the Hill, and Native American chief, Ken Hotate, in Parks and Recreation, was murdered.

The unnamed gunman tried to flee from his crime in his vehicle, but was arrested just a block away. Joss unfortunately passed away, despite the paramedics' efforts to save him, according to TMZ.

Police in Texas identified the man behind the gun, and his name is Sigfredo Ceja Alvarez, a 56-year-old man who was taken into custody shortly after being charged with murder.

Sigfredo is accused of first-degree murder, as reported by the New York Post, and his bond was set at $200K. The outlet was also told that his court date is scheduled for August.

After being taken to the San Antonio Police Department, the authorities did not disclose what led to the dispute on the south side of the crime, but Joss's husband, Tristan Kern de Gonzales, made his piece on his late husband's Facebook page.

Why Did His Neighbor Murder Jonathan Joss?

As Tristan detailed in the Facebook post, he and Jonathan were "checking the mail at the site of their former home."

They called it former after watching the resident lot burn down, "after two years of threats from people in the area" who "repeatedly" told them they would set it on fire.

Tristan added that while they reported the incident to law enforcement, nothing was done. The post stated that they were "harassed regularly" for hate crime against their relationship, as much of it was "openly homophobic."

The shooting incident happened right after they had discovered that someone had intentionally placed the skull of one of their dogs, which caused a commotion.

As Tristan and Jonathan expressed their emotional distress over the situation, a man started approaching them, "yelling violent homophobic slurs" as he "raised a gun and fired."

Ultimately, Jonathan was murdered by "someone who could not stand the sight of two men loving each other", as Tristan claimed.

The police, however, begged to differ, as their investigation seemingly "found no evidence whatsoever" that indicated the murder was "related to his sexual orientation."

The neighbors claimed to the police that Joss, despite Tristan's message, had been reported several times before their house went up in flames earlier this year.

They alleged that Joss often did weird things, such as banging pans from his rooftop in the middle of the night. But again, nothing remains certain about the whole story just yet.

For now, a GoFundMe that started for Joss following the fire was found. The platform raised $17,552 for the actor and unveiled the truth behind the burned house: it was the home his father built for his mother in 1957, filled with their memories, and why their three dogs perished in the blaze.
