Watch Benedict Cumberbatch Surprise a Comic Book Store Dressed as Doctor Strange

Iron Man may be gone from the MCU, but we still have another quippy hero with facial hair in the form of Doctor Strange. What's interesting is, director Scott Derrickson has decided to share this old video of Cumberbatch going into a comic book store unannounced dressed as the Sorcerer Supreme.

Check it out:

It's great that Cumberbatch kind of stays in character throughout the whole thing, not even breaking his accent. I guess if he wanted to be more believable, he would be practicing it a lot, even when the cameras aren't on him.

While Doctor Strange wasn't perfect, it was definitely a visually dazzling film. You just love to watch how reality gets bent and distorted like Inception times a hundred, and the scene in the end where everything moves backward while Strange and the rest are moving normally is still baffling—even with all the modern achievements of CGI.

Though Derrickson won't be returning to helm Doctor Strange and the Multi-Verse of Madness, I'm still excited to see what the movie has in store. While the first film was really all about dazzling magic and altering reality, I would really like to get into the stranger concepts of the world, from alternate universes to mindscapes. We don't really know what's in store, but hopefully, director Sam Raimi will give us something that he's passionate about and not something that feels like it's checking boxes for the demands by corporate.

Doctor Strange and the Multi-Verse of Madness is set to come out Nov. 5, 2021.
