The award-winning actress and the songstress are both lead stars in Koreeda Hirokazu-directed film Broker, which recently competed at the Cannes Film Festival 2022.
Gaining overwhelming response from the public, the drama movie received a 12-minute standing ovation and even won the Best Actor Award through Song Kang Ho.
His recent achievement also made history as the first male Korean star who bagged the coveted award from Cannes Film Festival.
As Bae Doona dishes out her working relationship with IU, she also reveals a surprising revelation about the singer-actress.
IU Reportedly Asked Bae Doona for Advice Regarding Broker
The 42-year-old A-lister shared in the interview what it's like working with IU.
As obtained by SBS News, Bae Doona shared that the Hotel Del Luna star sought advice if she should accept the offer for Broker.
She mentioned that at the time, she was busy filming the Netflix series The Silent Sea with Gong Yoo and Lee Joon when IU asked her about the movie.
"I was like, 'Of course! You have to join the movie! You must!" she said, adding, "I was just confident that she would pull her role off really well."
Good thing that the songstress listened to the senior actress, and IU had her first-ever experience walking on the red carpet of Cannes Film Festival and being lauded by international viewers for how great the movie was.

Bae Doona Praises IU for her 'Bold' Acting
The Kingdom star continued to talk about IU and showered her with praises and good words.
Bae Doona shared how she "loved" the "bold" acting of the songstress, saying that "she isn't expressive," but she makes Bae Doona "want to look inside her mind."
Interestingly, the award-winning star pointed out that she "have always been a huge fan" of IU.
To recall, Bae Doona and the Strawberry Moon hitmaker worked together in the 2019 Kdrama Persona.
"I was actually filming another series at that time. But I said I wanted to do Persona, mainly because I wanted to work with her," the Stranger star added.
Aside from her acting skills, Bae Doona was also impressed by IU's success in the music and drama industry and described her as a "top star."
She continues to gush over the singer-actress and wonder "if there is anything that she finds difficult in life," adding why she "cared" for IU so much.
It is not the first time that the Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo star was praised by her Broker co-star.
To recall, veteran actor Song Kang Ho previously noted that he was "amazed" with how technical and deep IU is in terms of acting.
In a report cited by AllKpop, he said that IU's acting was "perfect" and that he had to bring the actress aside to give her praise, noting that it is not something he often does.
What's Next for IU After Broker?
The Koreeda Hirokazu-directed film was IU's big-screen comeback after The Shade of Heart.
Interestingly, she is also set to hit the big screen with another film with Park Seo Joon.
