Warner Bros. Addresses Wonder Woman 1984 Shortened Theatrical Release

There is little doubt that people are already looking forward to the premiere of Wonder Woman 1984 on Christmas Day. However, the holiday release also has some fans concerned that the highly anticipated sequel's theatrical run will be significantly shorter due to limited cinemas being open. Luckily, Warner Bros. has debunked those speculations.

According to Deadline, the studio might already be considering moving the Wonder Woman 1984 release date yet again. However, the other option would be to stick with the planned premiere that could only run for about two weeks before moving the film to premium VOD.

"We heard from exhibition sources Monday that Warner Bros. is flirting with the idea of a shortened domestic theatrical window for WW84 of around 17-21 days before putting it on PVOD," the report reads.

So is this true? Interestingly, sources were quick to point out this is unlikely. "Studio insiders responded that no such plan is in the works for their prized DC sequel, the first Wonder Woman having grossed $821.8M at the global box office," the report continues.

This is certainly a relief for fans who are still hoping to enjoy Wonder Woman 1984 in theaters. For now, the holiday release is still in place and we're hoping this doesn't get changed yet again. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.

Wonder Woman 1984 is directed by Patty Jenkins and stars Gal Gadot. It is currently scheduled for release on December 25.
