Disney+'s original series are dominating the upcoming 2021 Emmy Awards' dominations. Star Wars The Mandalorian and Marvel's WandaVision are leading the nominations. The Mandalorian has 24 nominations while WandaVision has 23 nominations respectively. The nominations of the 73rd annual Emmy Awards were announced on July 13. The streaming channels are taking some major lead against traditional cable shows.
Netflix's The Crowd and The Mandalorian are tied with 24 each, making both streaming shows having the most nominations. Meanwhile, WandaVision's Agatha All Along is also nominated for an award.
The Mandalorian is nominated for two award nominations for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series with Timothy Olyphant and Carl Weathers. The series also has two nominations for Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series Chapter 13: The Jedi and Chapter 16: The Rescue.
Other nominations are for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for Giancarlo Esposito, and one nomination for Outstanding Directing for A Drama Series for Chapter 9: The Marshall. The series is also nominated in other Creative Arts nominations.
Meanwhile, Marvel's WandaVision is nominated for Best Limited or Anthology Series, with nominations for Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olsen, and Kathryn Hahn. Matt Shakman is also nominated for Outstanding Directing for a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie.
The other series that are nominated include Amazon Prime Video's The Boys and HBO's Lovecraft Country.
Another Marvel series that is nominated for the award is The Falcon and the Winter Soldier with five nominations. One of its nominations included Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for Don Cheadle.
