Mel Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge) and Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson) were last seen coping with pregnancies, paternity concerns, alcoholism, PTSD, and a variety of other issues. Dr. Cameron Hayek (Mark Ghanimé), a newcomer, also threw a wrench in their plans. Despite Dr. Cameron's suggestion that he would leave at the end of Season 4, a photo from Virgin River Season 5 featuring Doc Mullins (Tim Matheson) suggests otherwise.

Tension in Virgin River Season 5

A behind-the-scenes photo of Ghanimé and Matheson in character was uploaded on the official Virgin River Instagram account. The men were standing quite close to each other and appeared to be having a heated discussion.

"Anyone need a doctor?" the caption for the photo read.

Ghanimé also attempted to keep things playful in the post. "That man [referring to Matheson] is a lovely scene partner," he remarked. "Even when he accuses me of stealing all the office donuts, as seen here."

Clearly, there will be a lot of drama and changes at the clinic throughout Virgin River Season 5.

Making a Mark

Dr. Cameron whizzed through Virgin River and left his mark. The town's attention was drawn to the handsome new doctor. He was, however, captivated by a very engaged and pregnant Mel. To make matters worse, he was continually interfering with Mel and Jack's relationship, making things awkward.

He announced his departure from Virgin River at the end of Season 4. Ghanimé, on the other hand, was photographed at the table read for Virgin River Season 5.

Virgin River Season 5 Update

Showrunner Patrick Sean Smith has joined the team, replacing Sue Tenney, who served in that capacity for the first four seasons. Additionally, we are aware that this season, like season 4, will consist of 12 episodes.

The consequences of Charmaine's (Lauren Hammersley) paternity secret will be discussed in the following chapter, as will Melissa, a new antagonist who is creating a reputation for herself in the community. Henderson has also stated that Virgin River Season 5 will see the departure of a significant character.

"Obviously, I'm speaking without having read any of those actual scripts," he told Glamour. "A lot of stuff gets wrapped up, and then there's a whole bunch of new beginnings, new storylines. I can't give too much away. I know someone might move away. Someone might leave."

We know that Virgin River Season 5 is currently filming in Vancouver based on videos and photographs from the sets posted on the official Virgin River Instagram page and the cast and crew feeds. The show has been in production since July 2022 and is scheduled to wrap in late November, just in time for the holidays.
