More and more webtoons are getting the anime treatment now. The latest is Viral Hit, which got an anime announcement and a release date window reveal.

This upcoming show was revealed via a new trailer. While fairly short at just 30 seconds, it features animated clips that give fans a nice taste of what to expect.

As a popular webtoon, both in Korea and internationally, it’s not too surprising to see it get the anime treatment.

Webtoons are a popular digital comic that originated in South Korea. There have been lots of webtoons that are getting anime adaptations recently. For instance, there’s Solo Leveling, which is airing this season.

The latest webtoon to get an anime is Viral Hit, a comic that began in November 2019. This webtoon was then released in English in October 2020. It is also being released in Japan.

Viral Hit follows Hobin Yu, a high school student who becomes a “NewTube” star thanks to his fighting skills. Despite being scrawny, Hobin can knock guys out who seem much stronger than he is.

Viral Hit Anime Adaptation Gets First Trailer

Many anime are revealed via a short announcement video or a key visual. Meanwhile, Viral Hit was announced with a proper trailer that features actual clips from the series.

Even though it’s a short trailer, the clips show off the scrawny Hobin along with other major characters in the series.

The trailer also shows off the anime’s unique look, as well as the animation by the studio Okuruto Noboru. This studio is best known for shows like My Instant Death Ability Is So Overpowered and Tomodachi Game.

As for its staff, Masakazu Hishida (Ensemble Stars!) will direct the anime. Joining Hishida are character designer Satomi Miyazaki (Attack on Titan's animation director) and composer Yutaka Yamada (Tokyo Ghoul).

Viral Hit Anime Release Date Window Revealed

Another surprising thing about the anime’s announcement is that it will premiere quite soon. Crunchyroll announced that it will stream Viral Hit in April 2024.

The series is confirmed to stream in North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, and CIS.

For now, there’s no word yet on a specific release date for the anime, though it’s likely going to air early in 2024.

The voice cast of the upcoming Viral Hit anime is composed of well-known names, though they are led by rookie VA Satoshi Niwa. The anime's voice cast consists of:

  • Satoshi Niwa (Haraol in Helck) as Kota Shimura
  • Nobuhiko Okamoto (Katsuki Bakugo in My Hero Academia) as Kanegon
  • Fairouz Ai (Power in Chainsaw Man) as Aki Yashio
  • Yui Ishikawa (Mikasa Ackerman in Attack on Titan) as Kaho Asamiya
  • Shunsuke Takeuchi (Einar in Vinland Saga) as Hamaken
