We all know that iconic Spider-Man villain Carnage will wreak havoc in Venom 2, but did you know that the scarlet symbiote was originally planned to be Eddie Brock's main antagonist in the 2018 Sony Pictures offering?
Several concept arts by artist Paolo Giandoso (via The Venom Site) has surfaced online featuring Venom's battle with Carnage — and then some! What I mean by that is not only was Cletus Kasady supposed to show up in the first Venom film, other symbiotes like Riot, Anti-Venom, and Toxin almost made it to the Spider-Man spinoff flick. Wow! Check out some of the unused concept artwork below:
The Tom Hardy-top-billed film proved to be a box office success following its release and it urged Sony Pictures to finally go all-in with their own shared Spider-Man universe. Now, most of us are aware of their partnership with Marvel Studios and it could only be a matter of time before Tom Holland finds himself in Eddie Brock's turf.
Personally, I'd love nothing more than to see Spidey and Venom go at it on the big screen in a classic Marvel fight, mainly due to the fact that Tobey Maguire and Topher Grace's showdown in 2007's Spider-Man 3 ended up being a huge letdown, not to mention forgettable.
Hardy is set to reprise his role as Eddie Brock in Venom: Let There Be Carnage which is slated for release in June 2021!
