Venom 2 Reportedly Adding Female Villain Shriek Alongside Carnage

The ending of Venom teased a confrontation with Carnage, which got a lot of symbiote fans fairly excited since showdowns between these two have always been entertaining in comics. Reports surrounding Venom 2, officially directed by Andy Serkis, confirmed that Carnage would return and play a major role as the sequel's antagonist. It looks like he won't be the only one tormenting Eddie Brock since someone will be Shrieking from the distance.

According to Deadline, Sony is looking to add Maximum Carnage character Shriek to the second Venom installment. The character has had quite the history with Marvel Comics, mostly revolving around Venom, Carnage, and Spider-Man, recently appearing in the terrific Absolute Carnage. Shriek is getting an ongoing series spinning out of Absolute Carnage and now we know why.

No one has been cast as Shriek yet, with Sony looking at small-time and unknown actors for the role. It's not yet clear how important she is to the plot but there's a good chance that she will become an unwilling puppet of Carnage, just like in the comics. Here's hoping that it's a compelling role since Marvel doesn't hand ongoing comics to C-listers without them getting mainstream exposure first.

Venom 2 is looking better the more news of the sequel gets revealed. It seems like Sony is hoping to use Maximum Carnage as an inspiration for the follow-up and that's an interesting choice. While Maximum Carnage is often seen as a bad story it did lead to Absolute Carnage so that's something.

Currently, Venom 2 doesn't have a release date.
