Venom 2 Has Set Up the Debut of a New Symbiote

Fans are already talking about the future after Venom: Let There Be Carnage, thanks to that jaw-dropping post-credits scene. However, that's not the only surprise in the sequel. Interestingly, the last few minutes of the movie teased the arrival of a new symbiote.

In Venom 2, Cletus Kasady and Shriek decide to get married. As a wedding present to his bride, Kasady captured Officer Patrick Mulligan, who was responsible for previously taking Shriek's eye out. The two plan to kill Mulligan until Eddie Brock and Venom arrive and fight them.

At one point, Shriek attacks Mulligan and knocks him unconscious. When he later awakens, his eyes glow bright blue, teasing the possibility that he has been infected.

The glowing blue eyes might suggest that Mulligan absorbed Shriek's power but fans are also convinced it's confirmation that Mulligan will turn into Toxin, Carnage and Venom's successor symbiote.

In the comics, Toxin is Carnage's offspring and a truly rare symbiote. Since Toxin is the 1000th birth of Venom and Carnage's shared lineage, he is more powerful than the two combined. Needless to say, Toxin could be one of the most interesting additions to the Venom films in the future.

For now, it's just a small tease but fans are already looking forward to Mulligan and Toxin showing up in Venom 3. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage stars Tom Hardy, Woody Harrelson, Michelle Williams, Reid Scott, and Stephen Graham as Mulligan. The sequel is now screening in theaters.
