Vanessa Kirby Comments on Rumors of Her Playing Catwoman in Matt Reeves' The Batman

Now that DC's slate has improved recently, fans are hoping that upcoming films like Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) and The Batman follow suit. The latter actually has a ton of interest since Robert Pattinson will be playing the character, officially replacing Ben Affleck in the role. Rumors have also been going around that Vanessa Kirby could be Catwoman, the Dark Knight's on-again-off-again love interest, but nothing official has been stated.

Kirby has decided to give her own official statement, saying that she would be honored to get the role. Apparently, she has heard nothing about the role according to an interview with ET but Kirby did say that it would be a dream role. Either she's telling the truth or is feigning ignorance like all good actors who don't like spoiling.

It will be interesting to see if Catwoman will even be in the movie, as rumors claimed that Matt Reeves is going for a Batman Forever-like casting, reportedly wanting both Catwoman and The Penguin for a Year One-esque tale of Batman. Once again, these are just rumors but that would be an awesome take, hopefully, one that feels unique when compared to other similar movies.

We'll have to wait and see for more news on Matt Reeves' The Batman, which remains a mystery to this day. Fans will have to be a Batman-level intellectual if they want to read into everything. The film is currently slated for a June 25, 2021 release.
