Upcoming Evil Dead Rise Director Features New BTS Update and Sequel’s Status

In addition to many anticipated horror films like Netflix’s Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Hulu’s HellRaiser, one of them will be the sequel of Sam Raimi’s Evil Dead. With the production wrapping up last 2021, the sequel continues to push through this 2022. Last January of 2022, we finally got an update from the director of the film, Lee Cronin.

Evil Dead is an icon to the horror movie industry. Featuring 4 franchises created by Sam Raimi. The franchise gained a massive cult following throughout the years and the concept of Evil Dead has become a standard in the film-making industry.

The movie’s teaser or any footage from the film has not yet been released but director, Lee Cronin shared a preview of what the film will sound like.

On a tweet by Cronin, “Some disturbing sounds traveling out of the [Evil Dead Rise] edit suite in Dublin this Saturday evening," though we can only hear the audio while the camera pointing at the ceiling. The audio resembles the aura from Sam Raimi’s previous films, which immediately triggers suspense and fright.

The production was already done last October of 2021 with Cronin directing and also writing the film while the original director of the previous franchise Sam Raimi and star Bruce Campbell accompany him as executive producers.

In an interview with Blairwitch.de, Campbell described the film as “This one's dark, this one's pretty serious. Good, strong performances," and further discussed the plot:

"It's a single mom who now has to deal with this book. These days it's more about the book. That book gets around, that book is handed around, passed along, people try and get rid of it, they try to bury it or destroy it and they really can't. So this book just keeps popping up, so really it's just another story of what happens if this book appears in this particular group of people's lives and how it intersects."

While on Lee Cronin as director “Lee Cronin is a very serious man, he's a very serious director. Sam Raimi picked him because he did a pretty good job on a movie A Hole in the Ground. He's a very atmospheric director and Sam thought, 'Let's give this guy a shot.' It's gonna be really good, we've seen a rough [cut] of it already and it has all the components we need. Like anything, when you see a rough version it just has to be tightened, but we're good. We're in good shape."

Evil Dead Rise has not yet revealed its release date, but the film is expected to hit HBO Max this 2022.
