Turn to Me Mukai-kun is a Japanese TV series that streamed on Netflix Japan on July 12, 2023. Each of the 10 episodes was released weekly until September 13, 2023.
What is Turn to Me Mukai-kun Show About?
The live-action adaptation of Turn to Me Mukai-kun follows the story of Satoru Mukai (played by Eiji Akaso), a 33-year-old man who seems like he's got everything figured out in life. The only thing missing is a girlfriend.
Despite having good looks, a successful career, and a great personality, he doesn't seem to have everything figured out in life. All this changes when he starts yearning for an old flame and a new encounter at his workplace.
The big question is, should Mukai-kun keep yearning for his ex or start entertaining a new potential partner from his workplace?

Is Turn to Me Mukai-Kun Based on a Manga?
Turn to Me Mukai-kun is a Japanese series that was adapted from an award-winning manga written by Yoko Nemu. The manga series continues to be a popular monthly comic magazine.
The live-action adaptation stayed loyal to the manga's original source. The manga was released in Feel Young magazine in June 2020. Later on, the manga was compiled into its first book volume, which was released by Shodensha in January 2021.
The manga is currently on its fifth volume.
Shortly after that, Netflix took notice of the manga and decided to adapt it into a live-action series with 60-minute episodes. The series was written by Watanabe Mako and was co-directed by Kusano Shogo and Shigeyama Yoshinori.
The live-action adaptation is also the first time that the "series will stream on Netflix Japan immediately after Nippon TV's prime time air slot."
With Eiji Akaso's good looks, he manages to bring his manga character to life. The show's producers are confident that he will draw in viewers who will appreciate the storyline and get hooked on it.

This isn't the first time Nemu's manga was adapted into a live-action series. Prior to Turn to Me Mukai-kun, Nemu's 3 a.m. Dangerous Zone (also: Gozen 3-ji no Muhōchitai) manga was adapted into a live-action series in 2013.
