The goddess transported Makoto to the center of the battlefield, where a war between hyumans and demons is happening. The two adventurers who sided with the demons, Sofia and Mitsurugi, mistake Makoto as one of the goddess' disciples. Sofia uses a magical item that takes off Makoto's supposed divine protection, but it seems that they just end up finally understanding each other's languages. Makoto remembers them as the world's strongest adventurers, mentioned before in Zetsuya. He tries to clarify with them that he's not associated with the goddess at all. They don't believe him, and they continue to battle.

Makoto gets fed up and takes off one of the rings compressing his mana. Sofia and Mitsurugi are surprised at how stronger he's gotten. Makoto uses a weapon made for him by the dwarves, the uchine, which works like a bow and arrow. The attacks put the two in a tight spot. Sofia says it's interesting that the object reacted again, which Makoto doesn't understand. Makoto ends up destroying Sofia's sword.

Sofia and Mitsurugi switch up their tactics by sending Makoto up to fall from the sky. They assume he's dead, but Makoto successfully counterattacks. He attacks with the remaining rings that he has, causing numerous casualties and destroying a significant part of the battlefield. Sofia and Mitsurugi barely survive.

Makoto wakes up in the demiplane with his injuries fully healed. At the Rembrandt residence, they receive information that survivors said that the goddess' third disciple, a mage in red, caused the explosion. After Makoto discusses what happened, Shiki thinks that the goddess forced Makoto to fight the demons. Following the events, Makoto knows that he has to learn and improve his magic skills, which is why he still plans to go to the Academy with Shiki. He tells Tomoe and Mio to lay low, for now, considering she might interfere with Makoto's plans again.

Tomoe introduces a new fragment to Makoto. He names her Komoe. Meanwhile, the Forest Ogres are having a tough time at their boot camp. The illusory city is doing great, and so is the newly-opened shop in Tsige. Later on, Makoto found out about the numerous casualties at the battlefield because he was unaware of mana powering up when one's life is in danger. In addition, apparently, there were people from his world on the battlefield, both of them deemed as heroes.
