We're all looking forward to Spider-Man: No Way Home this December and to Peter Parker's return after the sequel. But is it possible that Spider-Man 3 will be the last one? Tom Holland just admitted that he is treating the upcoming film as the end of the beloved franchise.
There is little doubt that fans are still hoping to see more of Peter Parker in the future. However, it's also been clear that both Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures are only aiming for a Spider-Man trilogy.
We're all hoping that this isn't so but Holland himself has just confirmed with Entertainment Weekly that there won't be another Spider-Man movie after the third one.
"We were all treating [No Way Home] as the end of a franchise, let's say," Holland said. However, he did tease that this isn't the last we've seen of his webslinger.
"I think if we were lucky enough to dive into these characters again, you'd be seeing a very different version. It would no longer be the Homecoming trilogy. We would give it some time and try to build something different and tonally change the films," Holland continued. He concluded by stating he doesn't know what the future holds for Spider-Man but promises that the third film will give the franchise a proper conclusion.
"Whether that happens or not, I don't know. But we were definitely treating [No Way Home] like it was coming to an end, and it felt like it," Holland said.
It's unfortunate that Spider-Man 3 might be the last one for the franchise but we're still expecting to see more of the webslinger after the movie. After all, there's a good chance that Spider-Man will continue to be a part of the MCU but that would depend on what Sony Pictures decides for the character.
