A popular time leaping character is Takemichi Hanagaki, the main character of Tokyo Revengers. At present, he's a 26-year-old nobody who only works part-time. While he was watching TV, his ex-girlfriend from middle school, Hinata Tachibana, was on the news because she was murdered by a gang. This surprises Takemichi, considering she was his only girlfriend ever since.
While waiting at the station for the train to arrive, he's suddenly pushed onto the tracks and finds himself back in 2005—where Hinata is still alive and well. As Takemichi returns to his middle school life, he meets Naoto, Hinata's younger brother, and tells him about her death. After he tells him to protect her, they shake hands, and Takemichi is transported back to the present. With the assistance of Naoto, Takemichi aims to save Hinata from her impending death and change the course of everyone's lives.
Tokyo Revengers is a shōnenmanga series by Ken Wakui. It began serialization in Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine in 2017. In April 2021, an anime adaptation by Liden Films was released.
