Thunderbolts* star Sebastian Stan recently opened up about his character's scene-stealing moment in the teaser trailer.
The preview ended with an awesome scene featuring Bucky Barnes as he was seen chasing the Thunderbolts crew and firing a shot at them. It was reminiscent of his iconic scene in Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
Fans have been wondering whether Bucky's Winter Soldier mode was somehow activated during that moment or it's a showcase of how that part of his persona is still part of him after all this time.
Sebastian Stan on Bucky's Moment in Thunderbolts* Trailer
During his recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Stan was directly asked whether he was Bucky Barnes on the Winter Soldier during the end part of the Thunderbolts* teaser trailer.
"I think a little bit of both," the actor responded. "It's such an odd group. You know, we talk about the movie being like St. Elmo's Fire or the other John Hughes movie The Breakfast Club."
Stan continued, "It's just the oddest group and they come together and, hopefully, they don't kill each other. Maybe I don't kill them first."
This is the confirmation that fans have suspected regarding Bucky Barnes in the upcoming film as it explains that his Winter Soldier mode has not been truly gone and he still channels it once he is part of the action.
For the past few years in the MCU, we've seen Bucky's growth as he grapples with his identity in an attempt to let go of his Winter Soldier persona and the PTSD that he had from his killer past.
It is interesting to see how they'll address his next journey in the MCU, especially as he is now part of a new group with a chaotic lineup and characters that he won't likely get along with.
Thunderbolts* is set to arrive in theaters on May 2, 2025.
