Thor: Ragnarok Star Idris Elba Shares Why He Revealed His Own COVID-19 Diagnosis


Earlier this week, Thor trilogy star Idris Elba decided to take to social media to inform the public that he had tested positive for COVID-19. Not long after that, Marvel's Heimdall just released a seventeen-minute long video updating his fans and followers about his diagnosis and quarantine.

In the video, not only fans get to hear about the actor's experience in self-quarantine, but they also get to hear more about why Elba decided to get himself tested. According to the Marvel star, Tom Hanks was behind his decision to get test for the novel coronavirus, saying that the Forrest Gump inspired him to reveal his own condition to the public.

Earlier this month, Hanks revealed that he had also been tested positive for COVID10 together with his wife.

"I'm really proud of Tom Hanks, who's also someone in the public eye who came out and said they have [coronavirus]," Elba said in the video. "I was definitely motivated by Tom's move there, but also I think there's some transparency given to this situation when someone like Tom or myself is in this situation."

Right now, Elba is on his way to recovery.

COVID-19 has certainly had a major effect on the entertainment industry. Not only has the pandemic cancelled the production of movies and television series like Falcon and the Winter Soldier, it has also delayed the release of major films like No Time to Die, Mulan, The New Mutants, and Black Widow.

Black Widow was set for release on May 1, 2020 however the film has now been delayed to an undisclosed release date.
