Thor: Love and Thunder's Taika Waititi Reminds Everyone Where Nazis Belong

Taika Waititi has had a great few days, with his movie Jojo Rabbit winning the Oscar for Best Screenplay, beating out other nominations like Joker for the victory. As we wait for Waititi to work on Thor: Love and Thunder, along with a possible Star Wars movie that he has been playing down to the press, the director, writer, and actor had a pretty powerful message for everyone after he won his Oscar; nazis should be in jail.

During his post-Oscars speech, Waititi said he was very proud of Jojo Rabbit and the good message it had to say. He stated that the movie was a response to all of the hate speech and intolerance that has dominated the world in recent years, pointing out how nazis used to go to jail and can now hold their own rallies. It's pretty messed up and we're with him there.

"Us making the film was in response to a resurgence of hate and intolerance and hate speech. And here's the thing: At the end of [World Ward II] there was a very clear rule, if you were a Nazi, you went to jail. Now the rules have changed a bit. If you're a Nazi, feel free to have a rally down in the town square and you can invite all your mates."

It's hard not to sympathize with Waititi here and makes his hilarious take on Hitler feel much more meaningful now. We can only hope that Waititi continues to take this stance as he makes more movies, whether they be licensed fun like Thor: Love and Thunder or his Oscar-nominated Jojo Rabbit.

Thor: Love and Thunder will be coming to theaters on November 5, 2021.
