Thor: Love and Thunder Director Taika Waititi Explains Awesome Cocktail Easter Egg

Like all Marvel Cinematic Universe films, Thor: Love and Thunder had a lot of Easter eggs and references to the past and future. However, most of the coolest things we found in the movie were very much in the past. For instance, the beloved Goat Boat had its own bar complete with an awesome reference to Tom Cruise's flashy 80s film Cocktail!

In Thor: Love and Thunder, Thor and his companions decide to go to Omnipotence City to warn the other gods about Gorr the God Butcher, who intends to kill them all. However, Valkyrie and the others refuse to travel through Stormbreaker whose ability to summon the Bifrost needs a lot of work.

Luckily, Jane Foster offers a solution: create a vehicle that can harness Stormbreaker's power and so the Goat Boat (pulled by the Space Goats Toothgnasher and Toothgrinder) was created. As the group travels, it is revealed that the Goat Boat is fully furnished with a bar that has a Cocktails and Dreams neon sign. The same sign appears in the bar Tom Cruise's bartender works for in Cocktail.

While speaking to Uproxx, Taika Waititi admitted he wanted to put in as many flashy Easter eggs as possible into the Goat Boat.

"Yeah. I think a lot of the design of that stuff was like, what would seem really just weird. Like other things that are going through space, why not have Cocktails and Dreams on the outside of the goat boat? And also, it's a goat boat, a Viking ship being dragged by goats through space and the space dolphins," Waititi said.

He later added that he wanted to include a Cocktail reference in Thor: Ragnarok.

"My big regret with Ragnarok was not doing Cocktail ... Well, probably Jeff Goldblum's big palace in Ragnarok? It should have been in there," Waititi said.

Although he didn't get to do it with Thor: Ragnarok, we're glad Waititi managed to pull it off in Love and Thunder.

Thor: Love and Thunder is screening in theaters worldwide.
