Thor 4: Taika Waititi Calls Christian Bale's Gorr 'The Best Villain That Marvel's Ever Had'

Now that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is finally out in theaters, MCU fans are excited for the next film Thor: Love and Thunder, which will feature the God of Thunder's next adventure and the introduction of Jane Foster as the Mighty Thor. The highly-anticipated film will also have Christian Bale returning to the comic book world as he is going to play the villain this time around.

Speaking with AP News, Thor: Love and Director director Taika Waititi expressed his excitement on Bale's villainous role in the upcoming film in which he made a bold claim about his status on the pantheon of the MCU villains that we've seen on-screen so far.

"It’s a great, really fun, weird little group of heroes, a new team for Thor with Korg, Valkyrie and The Mighty Thor," Waititi said. "And, in my humble opinion, we have probably the best villain that Marvel’s ever had in Christian Bale."

The Oscar-winning filmmaker also teased about the titular hero's journey in the upcoming film. "Thor is just trying to figure out his purpose, trying to figure out exactly who he is and why he’s a hero or whether he should be a hero," he said. "I guess you could call it a midlife crisis."

With all the great MCU villains that we've seen so far whether it's Thanos, Erik Killmonger, or Loki, it is bold to declare that Gorr might end up becoming the top MCU villain of all time which we will never know if it's true until once we finally see the film. To be fair, the statement was made by the director so he would obviously hype up his character.

The film "finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late."
