Even years after its release, Star Wars fans are still discovering new information about Rogue One up to this day. It is known that the film went through multiple re-shoots and re-writes, so it is likely that there is still more to learn about the 2016 film. One such detail is regarding Mads Mikkelsen's character name.

Rogue One co-writer Gary Whitta was asked by a fan on Twitter on how he came up with the name Galen Erso. He revealed that he did, in fact, made the character but Whitta didn't name him. He pointed out that, in his draft, he originally intended to name the character Walton, which is a tribute to Star Wars creator George Lucas. Walton is Lucas' middle name. You can check out their exchange below.

Despite being known as Galen, much like Lucas, the character also has Walton listed as his middle name. Galen is a pretty epic character to name after Lucas himself, he is one of the weapons system designers on board the Death Star, and was also responsible for sabotaging the ship to make it easier for the Rebel fleet to attack it.

Whitta has been answering multiple questions from fans regarding the movie recently. He also cleared up the confusion with the Empire Strikes Back callsign conundrum in Rogue One. Whitta admits that he still likes his non-canonized idea that there is no Rogue One callsign in Empire, for the reason that the Rebellion "retired it" after the Battle of Scarif "out of respect" for those who perished.

On another note, a Rogue One prequel series will be developed soon, which will be written and directed by the film's co-writer Tony Gilroy. The series' release date is yet to be revealed.
