There’s A New Leaked Title For Star Wars: Episode IX And Fans Aren’t Happy

Alleged Star Wars leaks and rumors have been running up and down online now that fans have been desperate for news on Star Wars: Episode IX and as exciting as some of these reports might sound, others end up being extremely ridiculous.

Rumored titles for Episode IX have been popping around online the past few months, and while we can't really be sure how legitimate these other reports might be, we're pretty sure that Episode IX won't be titled as the "Skywalkers."

According to a new report by Aint it Cool (via Express), Episode IX's title might actually end up arriving as one simple word that's run the franchise. Star Wars: Skywalkers.

Though it isn't the sexiest title out there, some believe that Lucasfilm might actually want to bring the attention to the family that's run the past 40 years of the franchise. After all, Star Wars: Episode IX is supposed to serve as a culmination of the Skywalker saga.

Still, others are especially cynical, noticing how short and how empty the title sounds.

Not only is Star Wars: Skywalkers a little bit too on the nose, but it's also a title that just doesn't have any sort of "oomph" to it. There are a lot of other more fitting titles for Star Wars: Episode IX like Star Wars: The Last Hope, or Star Wars: The Last Skywalker, or Star Wars: Shadow of the Empire.

Luckily we won't have to wait for so long to find out the actual title of the film – after all, Lucasfilm is expected to drop the big news during this year's Star Wars Celebration.

Star Wars: Episode IX premieres December 20, 2019.
