There are a lot of things to love about The Witcher, but definitely one of the most fanservice-y moments are when we find Geralt shirtless. As it turns out, Henry Cavill has to go through a harrowing process just to look good for those scenes.
Talking to The Graham Norton Show, Cavill reveals that he had to dehydrate for 3 days just to get Geralt to look great onscreen. He explains that dehydrating the body makes his skin thinner so that his muscles will end up more defined when it comes to shooting.
If anything, dehydrating seems to have become commonplace when it comes to actors preparing for shirtless roles. Jason Momoa did it for Aquaman, and so did Hugh Jackman whenever he was working on Wolverine.
Though they do look great onscreen, I'm sure dehydrating your body excessively isn't a healthy practice. Then again, Cavill said there was a process to it, gradually depleting your water supply over three days, until the shoot where he has zero water. Since he does a lot of shirtless scenes in the series, I wonder if he just asks that they all be shot on the same day; I can only imagine the stress.
While a lot of people are bummed about The Rise of Skywalker, The Witcher has been getting a lot more positive buzz. Critics may not love it, but the fans do, and Netflix has already greenlit a second season.
