The Suicide Squad of James Gunn is still months away from its premiere but as early as now, the director of the film, James Gunn, already has something to celebrate for and it is because of the first trailer of the film having a record-breaking debut scoring more than 150 million views in just one week.

James Gunn revealed that the team of cons coming together in The Suicide Squad has acquired such a number of views for the first trailer of the film that they released last week. This has toppled the record of Mortal Kombat's trailer record for the number of views in one week.

Moreover, just as their first trailer is getting a high number of views, Warner Bros. secured a few television spots for the trailer and another full-length trailer which contains never-before-seen footage from the previous trailer released.

Gunn posted on his official Instagram page the success of their first trailer along with the photo of King Shark tearing someone apart. Gunn captioned it saying ""I just got word #TheSuicideSquad redband trailer set a new record for most views of a redband trailer in a week, with over 150 million views worldwide. I'm incredibly grateful to all of you for making this happen! THANK YOU!"

It seems that a lot are excited for the arrival of the redband which definitely builds up the hype for the film even months before its release. Gunn is currently in Canada filming the spinoff series of the Peacemaker, another exciting Gunn-directed product in the DCEU together with the star of Peacemaker, John Cena.

The Suicide Squad is set to premiere on August 6, 2021 in both theaters and HBO Max.
