“I think this season, it’s kind of like his journey to making the Ring,” he told ComicBook. “And if I think of myself as a fan who was never involved in this, the thing that I would be most excited to see from this series would probably be the forging of the One Ring because it’s kind of this pop culture thing.”
While Vickers is fully aware that fans already know what the One Ring is and what it can do, he’s confident the series offers “a cool interpretation of it” by showing how it was made.
Sure, some scenes depicting the process were featured in flashback sequences in Peter Jackson’s original trilogy, but the Prime Video series will offer a much closer and more complete look at the Ring’s creation.
What Changes Can Fans Expect From Sauron in The Rings of Power Season 3?
Dark Lord Sauron is moving closer to conquering all of Middle-earth in The Rings of Power Season 3, leading to massive battles and an intense war.
However, for showrunners Patrick McKay and JD Payne, Sauron is just “a being” like everyone else.
“With aspirations and insecurities, and the idea that he’s not just a flaming eye in the sky, but he’s a person who wants to make a ring,” Payne said.
So, if there’s one thing viewers should look out for in Sauron’s story in the third season, it is what he has to sacrifice or give up to create the One Ring.
“You know, you get to see him starting off the season and not knowing how to do it,” he continued.
That said, McKay and Payne teased that the changes fans are about to see in Sauron may influence their perspective on the franchise’s main antagonist.
