The Riddler's Paul Dano Wants Court of Owls in The Batman Sequel

Prisoners star Paul Dano is set to be the first villain to antagonize the Caped Crusader in the new Matt Reeves reboot of The Batman. The Golden Globe nominee actor will be playing Edward Nashton or The Riddler who will be murdering high-profile citizens of Gotham City. His portrayal of The Riddler is based on 60's real-life serial killer, Zodiac, and will be doing the same thing; leaving cryptic puzzles for the Gotham police and Wayne's Batman.

Alongside Dano, he will be joined by an ensemble cast led by Robert Pattinson who will play as the new Batman, Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon, and Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot. Matt Reeves directed the new Batman reboot and had expressed interest in crafting a new Batverse after the first film. Two spinoffs are already confirmed for the streaming service HBO Max and characters who are involved in the film shared their thoughts on certain storylines and villains they like to see in the future.

While speaking to Screenrant, Paul Dano shared his thoughts for the Batman sequel. When asked about the potential villains he would like to see in the future on the new reboot, Dano says he wants to see the Court of Owls as villains for the next chapter of the film and also teased another character he likes to see.

Dano explained, "I am genuinely curious how Matt Reeves would crack some of these other characters because he is reinventing them in such an interesting way. I think like Rob has said, Court of Owls is one of my favorite of the comics and there's another character I'd like to see Matt do, but I'm gonna keep it a secret."

The Court of Owls storyline follows an organized crime group made up of wealthy citizens of Gotham City. The group kidnaps circus child performers and trains them to be assassins known as Talons.

While everyone in the cast revealed the villains they like to see in Batman's sequel and spinoffs, looks like Colin Farell's The Penguin is set to be the next villain as his standalone spinoff was already confirmed by Reeves, and will be streaming in HBO Max right after The Batman hits the big screens. Another spinoff that was confirmed will follow Jim Gordon in the Gotham PD.

The Batman will premier in theaters on March 4.
