In more than a week, The Resident Season 6 will finally return after its fall finale. So, what will happen to Padma (Aneesha Joshi) after that major cliffhanging ending?

Padme was contemplating her own life amid her postpartum depression. Thankfully, series co-creator Amy Holden hinted at the future of Leela’s (Anuja Joshi) twin sister.

Trigger Warning: This article contains the mention of suicide.

What Padme is Going Through

The fall finale left Padma seemingly planning to jump off the bridge. Now, Holden reveals the reason why Padma is thinking of suicide.

“What fascinates me is the idea of someone who gets into a pregnancy without really understanding it, who has never had those kinds of responsibilities, and then, lo and behold, has twins without a partner and gets overwhelmed. That’s a growing-up event, you know?” she told TVLine.

“And the fact that it’s causing an emotional break is something very believable to me,” she continued. “She doesn’t have the skill set to deal with these kinds of overwhelming things.”

What made things worse for Padme is everyone expected her to be cool after giving birth, considering she’s a yoga instructor and has a carefree approach to life.

However, things didn’t work out the way she thought they would.

Padma to Successfully Overcome Everything She’s Going Through

For Holden, there’s no real journey if people don’t have internal and external struggles, so Padma has her own set of problems to surpass.

Thankfully, she will soon surpass everything she’s going through today when The Resident Season 6 continues, possibly because of her new relationship with Raptor (Malcolm-Jamal Warner).

“We debated early on if she could end up with Raptor, and we decided no, that was not where we wanted to go,” Holden revealed.

“We can now have a very complicated, interesting situation where people are co-parenting who are not really lovers,” she added. “What does that look like? How do people cope? It’s a good question, and an interesting area for drama.”

However, she didn’t deny the possibility of a romance between the two, though they mostly focused on their friendship instead.

The Resident Season 6 will continue on January 3.
