Among the rumored and speculated Deadpool and Wolverine cameos, The Punisher was one of the longest top appearances supposedly gracing the threequel to return to Marvel. Well, it's time to put an end to the speculations through the actor's confirmation himself.

The Punisher Actor Thomas Jane Puts Deadpool 3 Cameo Rumor To Rest

From Henry Cavill's Wolverine variant, Wesley Snipes' Blade, Jennifer Garner's Elektra, Channing Tatum's Gambit, Chris Evans' Johnny Storm aka Human Torch to Dafne Keen's X-23 aka Laura cameos, The Punisher's Thomas Jane had been the longest in reports before the premiere of the Deadpool threequel.

That, however, didn't come true. In fact, The Predator star himself confirmed that he was never called to reprise his iconic role as Frank Castle in the first place.

"Nope," he answered simply before explaining further, "I like [Jon] Berthal's Punisher. I think, you know, for me, it was always a little bit of a stretch."

Although Thomas Jane did share that he doesn't think of himself as the right fit for the part, anyway, and willingly handed over the torch to Jon Berthal's version, should he be asked to return to Marvel.

"Frank Castle is supposed to be an Italian American. I'm not. I'm an Irish American," Jane added, "So for me, I had to dye the hair and sort of take on a persona, but Bernthal wears it so well, so I think they should stick with him."

As it so happens, Jon Bernthal previously mentioned at the GalaxyCon that he trained with the Punisher alum to gear up for his MCU debut, which pretty much means that franchise fans are in good hands in looking forward to the revival series of Charlie Cox's Daredevil: Born Again.

For now, it would seem we would have to wait for further announcements and confirmation updates on what the Daredevil revival has in store.

Meanwhile, fans can expect Jon Berthal's Punisher to reprise his role in Daredevil: Born Again in March 2025.
