Comeback is real for the original manga series of Takeshi Konomi as The Prince of Tennis gets two exciting updates: a trailer for its big new anime and the poster for U-17 World Cup in celebration of its 20th anniversary. Swing once more as Ryoma enters the next phase of tournaments facing the most talented players in the world.
The Prince of Tennis will finally get a comeback anime series after more than a decade of hiatus since its last release of special OVA episodes of the best matches and a film. The show will follow the events where The Prince of II left off. A trailer is dropped with the release window of the show and it will form part of the Summer 2022 anime season.
Along with the trailer is a poster for The Prince of Tennis: U-17 World Cup with Ryoma back as the star player of the show. Returning to the show would be writer Mitsukata Hirota and character designer Akiharu Ishii. Studio Kai and M.S.C. handle the project with Kaiichiro Kawaguchi in the director’s seat.
The opening theme of the series will be by Yoshiki Ezaki and Bleecker Chrome titled “I Can Fly,” and the ending by TeniPri Artistars titled “Dear Friends.” Junko Minagawa as Ryoma Echizen, Ryotaro Okiayu as Kunimitsu Tezuka, Junichi Suwabe as Keigo Atobe, Sachiko Nagai as Seiichi Yukimura, Tarusuke Shingaki as Eishiro Kite, Hiroki Yasumoto as Hoo Byodoin, Yoshimasa Hosoya as Kuranosuke Shiraishi, and Mamoru Miyano as Ryoga Echizen are all returning to reprise their characters.

Following Ryoma’s journey to the National Middle School Tennis Championship, the team finds new meaning with the sport where they learn new complex techniques and the true essence behind their goal.
The Prince of Tennis is based on the Japanese manga series of the same name with the words and illustrations of Takeshi Konomi which ran from 1999 to 2008. The New Prince of Tennis followed the original story as a sequel.
The Prince of Tennis is scheduled to swing by the small screens in Summer 2022.
