The People v. Gorilla Grodd will feature a huge tonal shift from current DCU projects such as Clayface and Superman.
However, compared to what fans expect from the DC villain, he won’t be what many comic book diehards imagine him to be.
In fact, set photos have already revealed Grodd riding a scooter across campus and performing an a cappella rendition of LMFAO’s “Party Rock Anthem” – far different from his personality as the archenemy of The Flash.
“I’ve never seen anything like it… I think it is in that [American Vandal] world tonally, and then I think the stakes because it’s also, you know, Metropolis,” Skyler Gisondo said on Josh Horowitz’s Happy, Sad, Confused podcast. “I think it’s sort of like that kind of comedy but with the ante kind of revved up a little bit.”
By the looks of it, the new series will indeed be something new – a breath of fresh air amid all the superhero movies and shows today.

After Skyler Gisondo’s breakout performance in Superman, he is now set to return to the DCU to reprise his role as Jimmy Olsen in The People v. Gorilla Grodd.
Created by Tony Yacenda and Dan Perrault, the show will re-examine the high-profile murder trial of Gorilla Grodd, who possesses psychic powers and other abilities after his encounter with an alien spaceship.
The superintelligent ape is convicted of murdering his father, the King of Gorilla City, and Daily Planet photographer Jimmy decides to reopen the case to investigate whether Grodd was wrongfully convicted in one of Metropolis’ most famous murder trials.
The two will be joined by several Superman stars, with Beck Bennett returning to reprise his role as Steve Lombard, alongside Mikaela Hoover as Cat Grant and Wendell Pierce as Perry White.
New cast additions include Mary Holland, Eduardo Franco, Arian Moayed, Dan Perrault, Andrew Leeds, and Tim Baltz.
According to DC Studios’ co-CEO, the eight-episode series will take place after Man of Tomorrow and won’t be released until the Superman sequel hits theaters.
