For the past several weeks, The Batman spinoff series The Penguin has been filming around New York City as evidenced by the several set photos and videos that have emerged online where Colin Farrell is seen shooting scenes in full make-up as Oswald Copplebot.
While we are still far away from the show's release, fans are already looking forward to seeing the footage and finding out its approach and tone compared to what they did in The Batman.
Fortunately, we finally have an early first look as HBO Max (soon to be called "Max") has released the first teaser on The Penguin where they showed some footage from the series as well as a behind-the-scenes look at its ongoing production.
As expected, Farrell's return as Oswald Cobbeplot was the highlight of the almost 90-second-long footage. It also gave us our first look at Cristin Milioti's Sofia Falcone, who is described as the show's female lead, as well as the respective roles of Michael Kelly, Carmen Ejogo, and Shohreh Aghdashloo.

Based on the footage, it looks like its promise of being a crime drama series is showing on the screen. It is still early to say whether the series will deliver the same quality as the film, but what they've shown here is pointing in an affirmative direction.
Set around a week after the events of The Batman, the series will explore the rise to power of Oswald Cobblepot in the criminal underworld of Gotham City. The cast also includes Rhenzy Feliz, Deirdre O’Connell, Clancy Brown, Michael Zegen, James Madio, Scott Cohen, Theo Rossi, François Chau, and David H. Holmes.
Lauren LaFranc serves as the showrunner of the series and executive produces alongside Farrell, Matt Reeves, Dylan Clark, Craig Zobel, Daniel Pipski, Bill Carraro, and Rafi Cohn. It is expected to consist of eight episodes.
