The Offer premiere: The challenging production that conceived The Godfather

The Offer delves into the long and difficult process of turning Mario Puzo's novel The Godfather into a feature film.

The Offer went on to detail how The Godfather producer Albert S. Ruddy got Francis Ford Coppola's 1972 adaptation of Mario Puzo's novel into the hands of studio executives.

From 1945 to 1955, the original Godfather trilogy was released. It follows the Corleone family under patriarch Vito Corleone (Marlo Brando), with a focus on his youngest son, Michael Corleone (Al Pacino), as he transforms from a hesitant family outsider to a violent mob lord.

However, as witnessed in The Offer premiere, the film did not have an easy route to becoming one of the most spectacular motion pictures. Furthermore, Puzo's work enraged Italian Americans, and its content was supposedly based on crime families.

The Offer premiere episodes

Here are The Offer premiere episodes available as of writing:

Episode 101: A Seat at the Table

Al Ruddy (Miles Teller) wins the role to produce Mario Puzo's bestselling novel, The Godfather, for Paramount Pictures after leaving his job at the Rand Corporation.

Joe Colombo (Giovanni Ribisi), a rising boss in the New York City Mafia, has a different end in mind for the film, which he believes perpetuates bad preconceptions about organized crime.

Episode 102: Warning Shots

While Francis Ford Coppola (Dan Fogler) and Mario Puzo (Patrick Gallo) work on the script, Al Ruddy and Bettye McCartt (Juno Temple) face an ever-growing list of opponents to The Godfather's production.

In contrast, Frank Sinatra (Frank John Hughes) and the Colombo-led Italian-American Civil Rights League fight to have the filming stopped. Following that, Robert Evans (Matthew Goode) and Gulf & Western's Barry Lapidus (Colin Hanks) clash over Paramount Pictures' creative direction.

Episode 103: Fade In

After Ruddy is forced to meet with Joe Colombo, the pressure mounts for the scripts' delivery, and Evans finds himself in hot water with Gulf & Western's CEO Charlie Bluhdorn (Burn Gorman). Meanwhile, Bluhdorn develops feelings for Bettye.

The limited-run series has a total of 10 episodes.
