The Mandalorian Season 2 Paid Tribute to Beloved Season 1 Hero

It's no secret that the latest episode of The Mandalorian Season 2 had a lot of awesome surprises for Star Wars fans. But did you also notice how Chapter 12: The Siege paid tribute to a fallen hero from the first season? Interestingly, Episode 4 made sure that people would never forget about the one character who saved everyone in Season 1.

In The Mandalorian Season 2 Episode 4, Mando reunited with Greef Karga and Cara Dune, who have been acting as the marshalls in Nevarro during his absence. As the trio find some shade so they could discuss their plans, some eagle-eyed fans noticed something in the background behind them. Take a look at the screenshot below.

That's right, there's an awesome statue of IG-11 that has been erected in Nevarro. Sadly, none of the characters actually acknowledged the tribute in the episode. Nevertheless, it's awesome to see that the people of Tatooine are well aware of who it was that made the ultimate sacrifice to keep Baby Yoda and the rest of the gang safe in the previous season finale.

IG-11 was originally introduced in the premiere episode of The Mandalorian where the droid teamed up with Mando to procure "the target." However, when IG-11 suggested that Baby Yoda should be killed, Mando immediately killed the droid. Luckily, the droid voiced by Taika Waititi would be repaired by Kuill and play a larger role later on in the series.

Did you spot the IG-11 statue in The Mandalorian Season 2 Episode 4? What did you think of the tribute? Sound off in the comments below.
