There's no denying that Grogu aka The Child aka Baby Yoda has left many Star Wars fans incredibly fascinated since bursting into the scene in The Mandalorian. For quite some time now, there's been speculation as to when the character might start uttering his first words in the show. You see, in Star Wars canon, although he is treated as a child, Grogu is actually over 50 years old and to a lot of folks, that's already enough time for him to start talking.

Now, it seems likely that we'd have to get used to Grogu cooing for the entirety of the series or even beyond. According to executive producer Dave Filoni, he and show creator Jon Favreau are pretty conflicted with the idea of allowing the Child to talk and they have a pretty valid reason for it.

Speaking with Insider at The Mandalorian's red carpet event at PaleyFest in Los Angeles, Filoni shared that while plans are in place for Grogu to start talking, they admit that they want to keep the character the way he is. He said: "You know, I leave all that stuff to Jon, really. I'm very protective of the character as far as being Jon's brainchild, literally. I advise and obviously have been a big part of that creation."

He added: "We talk about how much would that change him or how much do we change him? We really like him how he is. It's hard. It's a great question. It's definitely something we think about and you know, I think it depends how much farther we go forward. I don't know."

Personally, I'm against the idea of Grogu talking or even aging in the series. I mean, the character has become a box-office commodity for the franchise and his merchandise alone has resulted in huge profits for Lucasfilm. And really, he's just too darn cute the way he is, and if a character like Pikachu managed to stand the test of time without having to change, so can Grogu.

The sixth episode of The Mandalorian Season 3 will hit Disney+ on Wednesday, April 5th.
