While it takes place in an era where familiar Star Wars characters exist, The Mandalorian and Grogu is pretty much a standalone adventure movie and don't feature any surprise cameo appearances from well-known characters.

The most prominent legacy character in the film, aside from Din Djarin and Grogu, is Rebels fan-favorite Zeb Orrelios (voiced by Steve Blum), who was already featured in the third season of the Disney+ series.

Rotta the Hutt, who was featured in an episode of The Clone Wars, is one of the main characters in the film, but he is not widely known in the franchise's lore and mythology.

Minor characters in the Star Wars franchise, such as Embo the bounty hunter (from The Clone Wars) and the Hutt twins (from The Book of Boba Fett), were also prominent parts of the movie. Carson Teva (played by Paul Sun-Hyung Lee) and Trapper Wolf (played by Dave Filoni) also made brief appearances.

However, the film doesn't feature any familiar characters such as Luke Skywalker, Bo-Katan Kryze, Boba Fett, The Armorer, and Fennec Shand, despite all of them being part of the Disney+ series and still alive in the movie's timeline.

This may come as a surprise to many fans who have seen the film, since there were expectations of surprise cameo appearances, but alas, that was not the case at all.

The film opted for a standalone adventure that doesn't rely on expanding the lore and mythology, nor feature major easter eggs or references to other parts of the galaxy. That is why even though you may not have seen the series, it is still accessible to the general audience.
