The Last Jedi Director Rian Johnson’s Former Agent Sues CAA Over Star Wars Deal

It looks like the Creative Artists Agency has just received a lawsuit from Star Wars: The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson's former agent for taking Star Wars commissions behind his back.

According to a report by Variety, Brian Dreyfuss, Johnson's agent for 12 years, has just sued the Creative Artists Agency saying the agency worked behind his back on a "Star Wars" deal while the Looper director was still his client. The lawsuit claims that Johnson owed Dreyfuss a commission on this Star Wars deal which was announced shortly after Johnson decided to drop the agent back in 2014.

The original lawsuit had been put on hold because of a pending California Labor Commissioner case. In this suit, Johnson claims that their deal had been made void because Dreyfuss had not been a licensed agent at the time.

Now, this new lawsuit from Dreyfus alleges that new information has come to light in the case, suggesting that the CAA secretly worked together with Lucasfilm on Johnson's Star Wars deal as early as June 2012.

The suit claims that the CAA committed fraud and interference with a contractual relationship. Though this news might not seem all that interesting, we wonder how it might affect Johnson's upcoming Star Wars trilogy. The Star Wars director's return to the franchise has been put into question many times before, and now it seems like the speculation may intensify now that Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have decided to exit from the Star Wars franchise.

Let's wait and see how things turn out.
