Freddie Highmore, who is very popular for playing Dr. Shaun Murphy in The Good Doctor, is already married. The 29-year-old British actor confirmed his marital status in his recent interview on The Jimmy Kimmel Live! after the host pointed out the band on his ring finger.
The Good Doctor Lead Star Confirmed That He Is Married Already
Freddie Highmore is, clearly, very happy with his love life. When he appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and was asked about the rumored wedding ring, the actor confirmed that he is officially off the market.
"Yes, I got married," he said. "It's funny — ever since I've been wearing this ring, people have been asking me if I'm married, so I figured I should clarify it."
Highmore joked and referred to Tom Cruise's infamous appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show in 2005 when he jumped on the couch to express his joy and excitement about his then-girlfriend, Katie Holmes. He jokingly said, "I know you do that in America but I'm as happy as a Brit can be."
The August Rush star also gushed over his new wife, calling her "wonderful."
"I'm married to a very wonderful woman now. So yes, I feel very happy," he added.
Freddie Shares Some Details About His Married Life
The actor did not reveal the identity of his new wife. He, however, admitted that he is still getting himself used to use the word "wife" because referring to her as "my wife" sounds so "possessive" for him.
When asked if his wife uses "my husband," Highmore felt that it sounded better.
"I feel like that sounds a little bit better. It's just the 'my wife' — I don't know," he added.
"Yeah, you're going to have to loosen up a little," the 53-year-old host joked.
"Thank you for the tips!" he replied.
Freddie's Character Is Getting Married In The Good Doctor Season 5
In The Good Doctor Season 5, Highmore's character is engaged to Lea (Paige Spara). They will be getting married this season. Lea, on her end, wants their big day to be special and perfect because her first wedding was a disaster.
Shaun senses how stressed Lea is about their wedding preparation. In the second episode, he tells her that he will help her with all the preparations. So, if things will go wrong, it will be on the two of them.
The Good Doctor Season 5 premiered Monday on ABC.
