The Arrowverse's The Flash will be coming to a close in 2023 after The CW announced that the ninth season of the show will be the last for the long-running DC series starring the Scarlet Speedster played by Grant Gustin. A few days after the news, he breaks his silence with a video on Instagram.

Grant Gustin thanked the fans for the love and support for The Flash, "This week we announced that season nine of The Flash will be the final season, which is bittersweet. It's been an incredible nearly ten years of playing this character and getting to be a part of this show with an amazing cast and crew, and so much love from you guys -- from the fans, people who love the show. It's the only reason we've got to do this as long as we have."

Gustin added expresses his excitement for the final season of The Flash, "I'm very excited to do this one final time, finish on our terms, and I'm going to enjoy every minute of it as much as I can."

Gustin reiterated his gratitude to everyone who supported the show since its inception, "I wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for supporting the show and allowing us to go as long as we have and I could not be more honored to be associated with this character probably for the rest of my life and career."

Grant Gustin first donned the suit of The Flash in his own series in 2014 following the events of Arrow which led to a series of spinoff shows such as Supergirl, DC's Legends of Tomorrow, Batwoman, and Black Lightning forming the Arrowverse on The CW. The Flash is the only series that still stands today.

The ninth and final season of The Flash is set to have thirteen episodes next year, a shortened one compared to the usual 18-23 episodes throughout the tenure of the show on The CW.

The Flash Season 9 is expected to pick-up from the events of Season 8 where the universe resets curing Iris from her sickness, Barry Allen as the new avatar of the NSF, Tinya and Renee reuniting once more, Mona and Dillio getting their powers back, and Cecile gaining telekinesis.

The Flash Season 9 concludes the long-running series in 2023 on The CW.
