The Fantastic Four Casts Ozark Star Julia Garner as the Silver Surfer

The Fantastic Four has finally cast the role of Silver Surfer as the MCU movie is heading to production later this summer.

Last Valentine's Day, Marvel Studios officially unveiled the four actors who will play the First Family in the highly-anticipated MCU film, ending months of casting rumors and speculations.

Since then, fans have been looking forward to hearing more casting news for the film, particularly on the villain and the other key supporting characters that are expected to appear.

Julia Garner to Play Shalla-Bal Version of Silver Surfer in The Fantastic Four

Deadline has reported that Ozark and Inventing Anna star Julia Garner is joining the cast of Marvel's The Fantastic Four. She is set to play Shalla-Bal, a version of the Silver Surfer.

For the past several months, it has been rumored that Marvel Studios was planning a female take on the iconic character in the MCU film and now this report has pretty much confirmed it.

Reporter Justin Kroll also noted on his X post that Galactus is expected to be the main villain of the film.

However, the role is still open for casting as there is no actor yet who is currently in talks or holding an offer.

Garner is currently one of the rising actresses in Hollywood thanks to her acclaimed performance in Ozark where she won three Emmy Awards. She also received praise for her work on Inventing Anna and the thriller film The Royal Hotel.

While the casting may come off as a surprise for some fans, nabbing a talent like Garner is still a major win for Marvel Studios since she is currently a high-demand rising actress and she has the resume to prove that she has what it takes to play the role.

Now, let's wait and see who else they will cast in the film, especially the pivotal villainous role of Galactus.

The Fantastic Four is scheduled for release in theaters on July 25, 2025.
