The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is nearing its release in March. The upcoming Disney+ series released a new promo and unveils Baron Zemo's costume.
The series will have Daniel Brühl return to his role as Zemo, following his appearance in the MCU from 2016's Captain America: Civil War. Zemo divided the Avengers during the Civil War events.
The new promo begins with Bucky Barnes stating that the world is upside down. It was followed by a clip with Sam Wilson questioning where they will begin. A little bit later in the new promo, Zemo is scene wearing his purple mask while stating that superheroes cannot be allowed to exist.
In the clip when Zemo said that superheroes cannot be allowed to exist, the video showed a close-up of his masked face. The scene is followed by a glimpse of him in his costume as he aims a gun. At the end of the promo, a quote appears stating, "Honor the legacy."
Zemo became a terrorist mastermind after losing his family during the Battle of Sokovia. He became obsessed with destroying the Avengers. However, he knew he was no match against them so he planned to divide them and destroy themselves. He framed the Winter Soldier for killing T'Chaka, causing Captain America to defend Barnes from the world.
These actions led to the Civil War, wherein Iron Man led the manhunt against Bucky Barnes and Steve Rogers. Tony Stark was prompted to hunt for Barnes after Zemo allowed him to discover that it was Barnes who was responsible for the murder of his parents. However, at that time, Barnes was under the brainwashing and control of Hydra at the time of the murder of Stark's parents. Zemo tried shooting himself but was captured by Black Panther and was imprisoned.
The events in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will follow the events after Avengers: Endgame. The series will air on March 19, 2021, on Disney+.
