The Falcon and The Winter Soldier Star Calls Disney+ Series a Six-Hour MCU Movie

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is supposedly coming to Disney+ this August so let's hope that actually happens since this is a Marvel series fans have been clamoring for. Following up on some loose threads from Avengers: Endgame and Captain America: Civil War, this Disney+ series will detail how Sam Wilson adjusts to being given the Captain America mantle while Bucky tries to have a normal life. Of course, things are never simple for superheroes and Baron Zemo breaks out of prison.

Falcon star Anthony Mackie has told Variety fans are in for a treat since this series has been shot like a six-hour MCU film. That's a pretty bold statement and one we're hoping lives up to the hype since none of us would mind that, assuming the pacing is well-done, of course. Then again, we just want this series to be good since going a full year without MCU content has been more draining than expected, especially with COVID-19 running rampant.

"We're shooting it exactly like a movie. Everybody who had worked on TV before was like, 'I've never worked on a TV show like this.' The way in which we were shooting, it feels exactly like we were shooting the movie cut up into the show. So instead of a two-hour movie, a six or eight-hour movie."

Choosing this style of shooting method for making a series sounds great but could end up backfiring if they aren't careful. TV is different from movies since more installments make it easier to do things like setting up plot points, develop characters, and maybe focus on a flashback or two. Knowing that Falcon and Winter Soldier will be like an MCU movie is great but having that scattered across weekly installments is going to be tricky.

If nothing bad happens, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier will be debuting on Disney+ this August.
