The Falcon and The Winter Soldier: Sebastian Stan Talks Bucky's Journey and New Look

Bucky has always been more of a side character to Steve Rogers, but he's going to be sharing the spotlight with Sam Wilson in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. While we know that the show is going to tackle Sam's transition into being Captain America, Sebastian Stan talks a bit about Bucky's journey.

Talking to Entertainment Tonight, Stan comments that the show will delve into Bucky coming into terms with himself. He says, "It is a bit of a new Bucky, the guys's got to go out there and figure out what's next, and sometimes you wanna change it up, you wanna see what the hell's happening, but in a way, look—I think this is gonna be the closest we're gonna get to him finding his identity again; so it almost feels like a way back to the past, before his 50s look and stuff like that. I think it's the first time the guy is looking in the mirror and going like, ‘shit what happened?'"

The most stable Bucky Barnes we've gotten was in Captain America: The First Avenger, then we spent the next two films just trying to "fix" Bucky. He seemed fully formed come Infinity War, but he never really got that much screentime to delve into his character.

Hopefully, with Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Bucky will be fully aware of himself, what with all that time in Wakanda to heal. I'm curious if Zemo is going to try and exploit his weakness though, and try to pit him against Sam's Captain America.

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is aiming for a fall 2020 release. Disney+ officially launches on Nov. 12.
