It looks like The Eternals is going to be a very unconventional Marvel movie.
The Eternals star Kumail Nanjiani just recently spoke in an interview with Deadline's New Hollywood podcast to help promote his upcoming Apple+ series, Little America. While the focus was on the new Apple+ project, the hosts of New Hollywood couldn't help but ask the Silicon Valley alum what to expect from The Eternals.
During his discussion with the hosts of the podcast, Nanjiani revealed quite a few details about the Phase 4 Marvel movie. According to the actor, a lot of the film is going to take place in the present day, and by this point in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's timeline, The Eternals have been on the Earth for a long, long time.
Hoping to keep a low profile, Nanjiani's character becomes a Bollywood star, one of the biggest in the industry. If what the actor's saying is true (we can't really be sure whether Nanjiani's playing around or not), then The Eternals may be taking a whole lot of liberty with its source material. Nanjiani is supposed to be playing Kingo, and in the comics, the character hides as a Japanese samurai hero. Instead, they've turned the character into a Bollywood actor.
Not only that, but Nanjiani also says that there's going to be Bollywood dancing in the film. Apparently the actor had to rehearse a dance scene with around 50 South Asian actors.
"I took months of Bollywood dance classes to prepare for that," he added. "It's really a workout...and you know, there's like 52 dancers, and 51 of them are professional dancers and then there's me!"
Looks like we're going to be in one heck of a wild ride watching The Eternals!
Black Widow is set to kick off Phase 4 when it premieres on May 1, 2020. The Eternals will follow on November 6, 2020.
