There is little doubt that The Eternals are probably the most powerful beings in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But what would happen if they go up against the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy? Brian Tyree Henry and Kumail Nanjiani claim that their characters will have no problem destroying the superheroes.
Henry and Nanjiani recently joined the rest of the cast of The Eternals at D23 Expo 2019 to promote their upcoming Marvel film. The two were joined by castmates Lauren Ridloff and new cast member Barry Keoghan when Variety asked why they're the most powerful superhero group in the MCU. Interestingly, Henry pointed out that they're the reason why superheroes exist in the first place.
"We built humanity and we're here to save humanity because as you know, sometimes in this world we live in, things don't always go as planned and we are gods, in a way," Henry said.
Nanjiani then chimed in to state the obvious. "Without us, there would be no Avengers. There would be no Guardians of the Galaxy, so you're welcome Chris Pratt's character," he said.
Sure, it's just a joke, but he's not wrong, either. Henry quickly stated that they aren't trying to start "no beef" with the Avengers but, as Nanjiani again stated, "We could destroy them."
OK, so we're not expecting the Eternals to be facing off against their fellow good guys but still, it's nice to be reminded that these characters are a force to reckon with.
Henry, Nanjiani, Ridloff, and Keoghan will be playing Phastos, Kingo, Makkari, and Druig, respectively. They will join Angelina Jolie as Thena, Richard Madden as Ikaris, Salma Hayek as Ajak, Lia McHugh as Sprite, and Don Lee as Gilgamesh. New cast members include Game of Thrones star Kit Harington, who has been cast as Black Knight and Captain Marvel actress Gemma Chan who will portray Sersi.
The Eternals is scheduled for release on November 6, 2020.
