The highly-anticipated anime series adaptation of The Dinner Table Detective is slated to arrive next year to the excitement of many fans who have been looking forward to the new version.

The story started as a best-selling novel series before it was adapted into a two-volume manga. A live-action drama series adaptation was also produced which became a hit as well.

Let's explore everything we know so far about the anime version below.

What is The Dinner Table Detective About?

Based on the novels by Tokuya Higashikawa and produced by the animation studio Madhouse, The Dinner Table Detective centers on Reiko, the heiress of the international Hosho Group working as a rookie detective in the Kunitachi police department and serving under the heir to Kazamatsuri Motors.

As they tackle difficult cases together, Reiko often consults her butler and driver, Kageyama, whose sharp instincts and tongue guide her to solutions — but only after dinner.

The anime's voice cast consists of well-known talents such as Kana Hanazawa, Yuki Kaji, and Mamoru Miyano.

A teaser trailer (which you can watch above) was also released which gave fans their first look at the highly-anticipated anime adaptation.

Based on the early glimpses, it looks like they can capture the magic of the source material and the fun mystery elements that made it a popular novel series in Japan last decade.

There is no doubt that this will be one of the most highly-anticipated anime shows next year, and there is a lot to live up to considering how massive The Dinner Table Detective has become since the novel series was published.

When is The Dinner Table Detective Coming Out?

The Dinner Table Detective is currently slated for broadcast on Fuji TV's Noitamina programming block in April 2025.

The exact release date of its premiere will be announced at a later time. There are also no details yet regarding its international release and which streaming platform it will be available on.
