The Studio ENGI anime, follows Kimizuka Kimihiko, a student whose bad luck gets him caught up in all sorts of criminal activity. When his flight goes into a state of emergency and a detective is needed, a girl sitting next to him proclaims herself a detective and drags Kimizuka along as a sidekick, forcing him to embrace a life of crime-solving.

Kimizuka, a teenage boy keen to live a peaceful life seems to have a crime magnet; from drug dealing with hijacking, there's nothing he hasn't witnessed. When his flight is threatened, the passenger next to him, a white-haired girl who goes by the code name Siesta, proclaims herself a detective and asks him to serve as her sidekick.
The pair manage to solve the case, and Siesta is quick to suggest a more long-term partnership. Kimizuka is reluctant, but can't help wanting to solve crimes and helps others, so he shares details about Hanako, a co-student who has been missing school. He and Siesta infiltrate a school festival and find a culprit who leads them to the truth; the students' strange behavior is due to a drug.
Kimizuka reluctantly decides to become Siesta's sidekicks and the two have many adventures together... until death separates them. The episode culminates with Kimizuka revealing that "the detective is already dead." But how? Hopefully, Episode 2 will shed light on Siesta's demise.
