The Dark Knight Star Christian Bale in Talks to Join Thor: Love and Thunder Cast

This might come as a surprise to both Marvel and DC fans, but word on the street has it that the Dark Knight trilogy star Christopher Bale is currently in talks to join Taika Waititi's second Marvel movie, Thor: Love and Thunder.

According to Collider, Oscar-winning actor Christian Bale is currently in negotiations to join Chris Hemsworth in the fourth Thor movie, Love and Thunder. Nothing much has been revealed about Bale's intended role in the film yet, but if the casting does push through, then the follow-up to the 2017 comic book hit Thor: Ragnarok may very well be Bale's first comic book movie since his appearance in The Dark Knight Rises way back in 2012.

It would also add even more incentive to an already highly-anticipated film. Not only does Thor: Love and Thunder promise the return of the Asgardian God of Thunder after his adventures in Avengers: Endgame, but the movie also promises the return of Natalie Portman's Jane Foster. What's even more exciting is that Jane Foster is set to appear as Mighty Thor in the film – Love and Thunder is set to adapt some of the elements of The Mighty Thor comics were Jane Foster becomes worthy of Mjolnir and takes on the role of the new Thor in place of the son of Odin.

The film also promises the return of Tessa Thompson's Valkyrie, an Asgardian warrior who proved to be an easy fan-favorite character in Waititi's Marvel break-out movie, Ragnarok.

Thor: Love and Thunder is set to premiere on November 5, 2021.
